Outreach

It is clear that
we are all called to do good
works - allowing the Holy Spirit to work in
our lives that we may serve others.
St. John's continues
to make significant strides
in outreach, both within the parish and in the community of
life.

entire parish family, a dedicated team of volunteers has done many
things to bring the ministry of God's love to people in need throughout
this area and beyond:

Appalachian Trail
Hiker Water Ministry
On May 1 2010, we will re-start
our water ministry to Appalachian Trail hikers who come through
Harpers Ferry. If you would like to donate bagged ice, paper
cups, or small, high-quality paperback books to this effort
(for the hikers to take with them on the trailthey will
not be returned), please contact our water ministry coordinator,
Bob
DuBose at (304) 535-2009.

Jefferson County
Community Ministries (Volunteers and Donations)
Our
congregation is now responsible for keeping Jefferson County
Community Ministries open from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the last
Saturday of each month. St. John's contributes approx. 12
lbs of food each week. If you are interested in working on
those days to receive for, and stock, the food pantry and
the clothing closet, please call Bob DuBose at (304)
535-2009.

Selling
Jewelry to support Aids Orphans in Africa: In
2007, we reaised over $800 to send to AIDS orphanages, hospitals,
and schools in Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania |

Panhandle Free Clinic: we
support them each year with our Fall Festival |

We
support the establishment of an Ecumenical Youth Center at Camp
Hill Wesley Methodist church, along with the Harpers Ferry and
Bolivar Methodists and Lutherans. |
